About the Notification

Northeast Frontier Railway invites online applications from eligible candidates for engagement as Act Apprentices in various workshops, divisions and units under its jurisdiction. The apprenticeship training will be conducted under the provisions of the Apprentices Act, 1961.

Applications will be accepted only through online mode. Candidates are permitted to submit only one application. Selection will be made strictly on the basis of academic merit, the order of preference of Unit-Department-Trade filled by the candidate, and successful document verification.

Note: The number of apprenticeship slots is provisional and may increase or decrease depending upon the administrative requirements at the time of final selection.

Educational Qualification

For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) & Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology)

Candidates must have:

  • Passed Class 10 with minimum 50% aggregate marks.
  • Passed 12th (10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) with minimum 50% aggregate marks.

For All Other Trades

Candidates must:

  • Have passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent under the 10+2 system with minimum 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
  • Possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) issued by NCVT or a Provisional/National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade.

Note: The minimum 50% aggregate marks in Matriculation are not applicable to SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

Selection Process

There will be no written examination or interview for the engagement of Act Apprentices.

Selection will be made on the basis of academic merit as follows:

For Most Trades

The merit list will be prepared using the average percentage of marks obtained in:

  • Matriculation (Class 10)
  • ITI Examination in the relevant trade

The final merit panel will be prepared on the average of marks secured in Matriculation and ITI.

For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology & Radiology)

The merit list will be prepared based on:

  • Class 10 marks
  • Class 12 Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) marks

Tie-Breaking Criteria

If two or more candidates secure the same marks:

  • The older candidate will be placed higher in the merit list.
  • If both candidates have the same date of birth, the candidate who passed Matriculation earlier will be given preference.

Shortlisted candidates up to 1.5 times the notified vacancies will be called for Document Verification.

Payment Mode

The application fee must be paid online through the payment gateway available on the NFR website.

Application Modification Fee

Candidates who wish to modify their submitted application can do so by paying ₹50 for each modification. Registration details cannot be changed.

Monthly Stipend

Selected apprentices will receive stipend as per the Apprentices Act and the prevailing rules.

  • Hostel accommodation will not be provided.
