GDS Service Conditions (Important to Know)

• GDS are not regular Central Government employees

Post-wise Job Profile

🔹 Branch Postmaster (BPM)

• Manages daily postal & IPPB operations
• Responsible for BO functioning and customer services
• Must arrange accommodation for Branch Post Office
• Mandatory residence in the post village

🔹 Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

• Mail delivery, IPPB transactions, and sales
• Assists BPM in office operations
• Can perform BPM duties when required
• Must live within the delivery jurisdiction

🔹 Dak Sevak

• Mail delivery, RMS sorting, office assistance
• Works in HO/SO/RMS offices
• Residence required within delivery area
